Dance Gavin Dance originally scheduled this show for March 2020 before the Covid Pandemic hit and shut the live music world down for 18 months. Animals As Leaders were originally supposed to be the main support band and were my primary reason for buying a ticket. This rescheduled tour, now with Polyphia, Veil Of Maya, Eidola, and Wolf & Bear as the opening acts, was only the 3rd concert for me coming out of quarantine life and was SO WELCOME.
Dance Gavin Dance was touring to support their Afterburner album, while Polyphia‘s latest offering was the 2018 New Levels, New Devils album. The performances immediately inspired me to soak up the entire discography of both Dance Gavin Dance and Polyphia. The unique genre-bending aspects of both bands was such a welcome change to my music rotation. You know you’ve found something special when you can enjoy every single song from a band you know little or nothing about.
Shawn went to the show also and agreed it was an epic prog rock performance by both bands. You can’t beat the outside courtyard at Jannus for a live music experience.
