This was an EPIC concert by any standard – an all day rock show with some of the biggest metal bands around at the time. This was the precursor to your Lollapaloozas and Coachellas of today. The lineup was Kingdom Come – Metallica – Dokken – Scorpions – Van Halen. I went with Jeff, that same burnout friend from earlier concerts – we had great weather in an outdoor football stadium with The Monsters Of Rock all playing full sets!
Too bad I can’t remember very much about it due to the fact I smoked several weed & hash combo joints and the entire day is pretty much a blur. See kids…drugs just make you forget the good stuff. Drugs are bad, mkay?

I was there on the field. I remember the concert well. There was a massive food fight. I remember getting up close to see The Scorpions and they were spraying us with the hoses to keep cool. I still have the concert shirt.
I bumped in to a friend from my computer tech school while we were there. It was totally random and a surprise to see him there. I remember him tripping on something, but I wasn’t in to drugs then and I didn’t take any that he offered.
We left right when Van Halen finished playing. We didn’t stay for the encore. It was raining really bad and the lightning was all over the place.
It was a great concert. Something to tell my kids when they get older.
I was at that concert as well in the infield and they were serving lemon in some drink and that’s what was getting through more then anything and they hurt like he’ll when they hit you. I had a bikini on and I got hit several times . I remember them spraying us with the hose as well cuz it truly was a hot one …Vicky Allison vallison6@gmail.com
yep, I got hit in the neck with half a lemon
I was on that field as well and travelled from Glasgow Scotland at 19 years old for the privilege. beautiful girls in bikinis, warm beer, cool bands with even cooler concert shirts! Bring these days BACK!!!
That was my first time my little boyfriend (we were 13) and I went anywhere by ourselves. Also my first concert without my parents. Good times.
I was there. Got the crap beat out of me in the mosh pit. Pure insanity when Kingdom Come hit the stage.
No regrets 🙂 It was an epic concert.
I remember getting my car taken away from me the next day, I had to drive back to Kissimmee and couldn’t find my brown Z28 in the mass of Camaros throughout the parking lot. I didn’t have the $3 in quarters to call home to tell my parents I was going to be late and I think I got home when my dad was leaving for work! I was 17 and Metallica was my favorite part of the concert. One of my favorite memories. Look at the ticket price. $25 WOW!!
