My first time seeing one of the most masterful and elusive bands ever, Tool! I had to buy the ticket on resale because of how fast this tour sold out – don’t let the name on the ticket throw you – I was there, bitch. Tool had no album to promote since the last time they had new material was 2006. The music and stage show were both cornerstones of an epic performance. However, it was very odd to learn once the show started that Maynard Keenan doesn’t allow spotlights on him and he hides in the background of the stage. The lack of having a strong visual lead singer presence for a show was definitely off-putting for me. I regret nothing, just describing the vibe. The pictures capture what I’m talking about adequately – that little dark shadow figure is him. At any rate, the music was amazing and I cannot wait until they come through the area again. And not for nothing, but the opening band was Primus who were in top Primus-ey form and quite the show on their own!
