This was one for the bucket list, kids. AMAAZING show! My Chemical Romance revived the decade-long-dead Black Parade show and reinvented it to have a Russian Dictator theme surrounding all of the storyline. Their full show was 2.5 hours long – the first half was just The Black Parade – entire album, front to back with an amazing narrative unfolding on stage. You see his initial visit with the doctor, the moment he gets his cancer diagnosis, his admittance to the hospital, the “you only have 2 weeks to live” moments between him and the doctor, his inevitable death followed by BURNING IN HELL. And when I tell you that stage was burning in hell, I can’t emphasize how insane it was. There were flame towers that started at 10 feet and grew to 40 feet high reaching the tops of the stage. We literally thought the production had gone foul and was about to be shut down in emergency. Following their landmark delivery of The Black Parade, there was a 15-minute intermission where we were provided a cello solo piece from Clarice Jensen, who performed the instrumental piece “From A to B” between the two MCR sets. Gerard & co. returned after the intermission to a second stage, in the center of the stadium floor, with a stripped-down punk-heavy set for another 11 songs. I could not have asked for more. The opening band was Evanescence and Amy Lee was amazing as she always is. Truly a bucket list show. RJ, Jayden and Brea (not the cheese) went with, and everyone was blown away by the show.
